The Search for Maladar

Squire to Lady Valeana

Muralla had prepared and set out with the family. Her mind was awhirl with thoughts of the
excursion she would be taking wih the family. She helped the other squires with their daily duties as they helped the knights. The family traveled through the forests enjoying each others company. Mura spent her days doing what needed to be done but found that her sleep was troubled.

They continued on their journey and soon found themselves in the company of the Elven King, a
friend of Lord Murtano's. The Elven King and his people showed the family considerable hospitality. They were invited for an evening of dinner and dancing. Mura dressed and went along but found that she could not lose herself to the magic of the evening. Her face showed her
happiness at seeing the family enjoying themselves so, but there was a sadness in her heart that she had not felt in months.

A slight breeze blew through her dark curls as she walked to the edge, looking out into the forest.   Her hand moved instinctively to grasp the cold metal of the pendant that hung around her neck. Her thoughts drift to her childhood and to her brother. She had not allowed herself to feel the loss of him in a few years, not since she had set out to find him. However, now that she was accompanying Murtano to his homelands, it reminded her of the days she had spent with her brother. She blinked as she felt an unnatural feeling of heat and moisture in her eyes. She had not allowed herself to cry, because her brother was not gone  just lost.

Mura turned abruptly as she sensed someone approaching her from behind. Her blue eyes fall
upon an elven man. His smile is warm and friendly as he greets her, "Good eve." Mura smiled at him, bringing her thoughts back to present. She watched as his eyes moved over her face thoughtfully, "You remind of a man I met in a village awhile back."  Mura's eyes widen slightly as she listens to him. "He was a warrior  had the same dark, hair with a slight curl " His eyes look
into hers intently. "The same deep, blue eyes  His name was Maladar, I believe."

The world seemed to turn upside down in that instant. He had spoken her brother's name. He had seen her brother alive. Emotions raged through her at the news that she had just received. She looked at the man, asking, "Where is this village?" She listened intently as the man told her where the village could be found. She thanked him for his information and the hospitality that
the family was being shown. The rest of the evening, Mura spent in thought. Maladar was out
there somewhere  The next morning, she arose early and dressed. Having seen to her duties, she approached Lord Murtano and Lady Felena. Looking at them earnestly, she says, "M'lord and Lady, I have need to go to take a quick leave of the party. I have had news that I cannot delay in investigating. Will that be alright?" Having been put in the care of the Lady Felena by her knight sponsor Lady Valeana, Mura looked to her. Felena smiled at her and told her that it would be alright.

Mura smiled and hugged Felena. "Thank you m'lady." Turning, she said her goodbyes to the rest of the family and knew that she would meet up with them soon. Collecting her gear, she headed out in the direction of the village

Squire to Lady Valeana

Muralla travelled through the forest in the direction that the elven man had pointed out to her. He
had told her that she should be able to reach the village in two days time. She had travelled through the forest until emerging upon the road he said would lead her there. Being alone on the road, gave her plenty of time to think. The memories of her brother came to her. A sense of
anxiousness settled in the pit of her stomach as she realized how close she was after so many
years. As was her habit, her hand closed around the pendant that hung around her neck. Feeling the cool metal, her attention was brought down to it. She looked at the perfect, miniature rendition of a fox in the palm of her hand. The men had brought it to her as proof of her brother's death. He had worn it always, since the time that their father had given it to him hours before he had been killed. Now it was in her possession.

Letting it go, she turned her gaze to the road ahead. Something caught her attention in the
distance. A group of merchants were making their way down the road in her direction. Seeing that they were a ways down the road, Mura took out the letter that she had written to her knight sponsor the Lady Valeana. She looked it over, reading the thoughts that she would be sending to her knight sponsor.

Dear Lady Valeana,
I have enjoyed the days that I have spent with M'lord Murtano, Lady Felena and my fellow
squires. I have spent the days seeing to my duties and listening to the example set forth by the knights. The trip to M'lord Murtano's home is through some beautiful country. The forest is lush and full of life. The rivers and lakes crystal clear. The mountains rise up and hold you in awe.

We had traveled and come upon elves in the forest. The Elven King is a friend of Lord Murtano.
He showed us great hospitality and there was a great feast given. The evening was enjoyed by everyone. It was there that I was approached by an elven man. He told me that I looked like someone he had seen awhile back M'lady, he spoke of my brother.

I have not seen him in four years. He left in search of the men who had murdered our father. A
year after he left, I was brought the news that he had been killed. However, I do not believe that. I left in search of him and came upon the KoRT keep. Until that time, the only family I had ever known was my brother. He took the time to care for and raise me. When I arrived at the keep, I knew that I had found family again. But I still have need to find my brother. I have asked permission of Lady Felena to investigate this information and she has granted it. I am on my
way there now. I hope that all is well with you.

Your faithful squire, Mura

Having finished, Mura folded the letter and sealed it. After addressing the letter to Lady Valeana,
she approached the travelers. They turned to look at her as she reached them. Mura had watched and noticed that a lovely woman seemed to be the leader of this group. Dismounting, she went up to her curtseying, "Greetings fellow travelers."

The woman looked her over before nodding in greeting, introducing herself as Krystie. Mura
smiled as she stood. The attire of a squire of KoRT had not gone unnoticed by her and her companions. "Ye be a squire of the Knights of the Round Table?" she inquired.

"Yes, m'lady, I am the squire of the Lady Chancellor, the Lady Valeana." Mura watched as she
came to some conclusion. Having an opening, Mura asked, "Would ye be travelling to the keep?" Seeing the affirmative response on her face, Mura continued. "I would be obliged if you would be so kind as to bring a missive to the keep for me. It is for my knight sponsor, Lady Valeana. I will perform a deed in return for your help." Mura waited patiently for an answer.

Krystie thought it over and nodded, "Aye, we can do that. We were thinking about stopping by
the keep." Looking to her companions before returning her attention to Mura, she said, "We have no need for your services at the moment, but if the need arises in the future we may call on you."

Mura replied earnestly, "Thank you, m'lady. If you ever have need of me, my name is Muralla
Raposa. You may find me in service to the Knight of the Round Table. I would be pleased to be able to help you out, in whatever way I can." Taking the missive from her cloak, Mura handed it over to Krystie. Curtseying once more, she bid farewell tothem. Quickly mounting her
horse, she started on her journey again with the knowledge that her letter would reach Valeana.
