In his quarters, Giantkiller is going through the various guard
reports.  Unable to concentrate due to a nagging feeling in the back of his
mind, he drops the pile of papers onto the table and takes a deep breath.
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he picks up the papers and is bout to
go over them once more when he is interrupted by  knock at the door.

"Enter,"  Giant calls out.

The door opens and a young page enters the room. Noticing the page is out of
breath, Giant stands. "What brings you here in such a hurry?"

Taking a deep breath, the page speaks. "Lady Felena requests your presence in the audience chambers immediately, milord."

Looking the young page over, Giantkiller senses the urgency in his
mannerisms. "Run ahead and inform her I am on my way."

The page bows and disappears out the door.  Turning, Giantkiller grabs
Freedom from where it always rested and strapped  it around his waist.  Hey
then heads towards the door and steps out into the hallway. Stopping, he
reaches for the chain around his neck and pulls his holy symbol of Tyr out
from underneath his shirt.  Closing the door, Giantkiller heads off down the
hall in a near run.

Reaching the audience chamber, Giantkiller knocks on the door and then opens
it.  Stepping inside he see Fel and Erdrick inside. Giant drops into a quick
bow...

"At your service Milady."

Felena nodded to GK, then motioned him to stand beside ERdrick upon
the dias. "We haven't much time to go over all the details of what has gone
before. Suffice it to say that my son, Mallagant has presented himself for an
audience, and our last meeting was less than pleasant. Especially with Murt
being indisposed, it is important that you both be here."

She placed GK directly beside her, centered between the two thrones. Erdrick,
she asked to stand before Murt's throne, As her primary advisor. She had just
turned to speak to them once more as the doors to the audience chamber opened
to admit her son, and his guest. They bore no weapons, within physical sight
anyway. Yet she could sense the aura of magical energies just within reach of
the wielder. Her son's powers were not unfamiliar to her, and it would be
foolish to think that he would not use them, mother or not. And from the
woman who accompanied him, she sensed a different energy she could not place.

The guards escorted them half way to the dias then stopped and stepped back,
allowing them to continue forward. Her son's bow took her by surprise...as it
lacked the usual flambouyant sarcasm that usually exuded from his sweeping
bows. Instead, it was oddly respectful, and seemed sincere. The woman's
curtsy was the same. Mixed emotions flooded the back of her mind as she gazed
upon her grown son. He looked so much like his grandfather.

Gathering her thoughts, she pushed the emotional reactions back down and
regained control. "You surprise us with your visit, my son. What brings you
to Tannisbury at so late an hour?"

Mallagant rose from his bow, a peaceful look on his face as he spoke.

“ Mother, it is good to see you again. I see the years have done you well.”
Mallagant’s eyes wandered to take in the beauty of the audience chamber and paid
extra attention to her advisors.

“ I hope my arrival did not alarm you, that is not the purpose of my visit. We have
spent enough of our time in bitterness, I come before you today humble, and have
come to end this feud which plaques our family.” Mallagant stood firm and spoke
clearly, sincerity evident in his eyes.

“For many years I have harbored resentment to you and my brother Ian for the
heredity of Winterbrook, my actions were that of a jealous youth and my thoughts
were rash and foolish.” “As time progressed I began to see the stupidity of my
actions, and my heart aches from the pain I have caused you and my brother, for
this, I am forever sorry.”

Vilessa placed a hand on Mallagant’s shoulder, comforting him as he poured his
heart out it, she knew this was no easy task for one so proud. Felena’s heart began
to beat faster as her son spoke, he was not here in malice, but wanted forgiveness.

“I beg you to forgive me mother, this is not easy for me to do, I was surprised to
make it inside the gate. I assure you my entourage was simply for protection from
vandals or thieves during my visit.” Mallagant’s sighed deeply as the weight of the
situation caught up with him. Slowly he approached his mother and dropped to one
knee before her.

“ I come to pledge my allegiance and love to you, and my full support to Ian.”
Mallagant lowered his head in shame. “ I have caused enough pain, but with your
blessing and forgiveness, we may begin to heal old wounds.” “Perhaps you will
allow Vilessa and myself to remain for a few days, I very much would like to hear
what is happening in your life.” Mallagent kept his head lowered as he awaited his
mothers words.

Vilessa Shadowfyre wore a soft, full cloak and hood, concealing her form and face. Her features remained somewhat shadowed except for glimpses of fair skin and scarlet tresses. Every so often a flash of deep ruby colored eyes revealed
something other than human in her ancestry. The rest of her remained shapeless and hidden. Several guards escorted them towards the dais ahead. They stopped halfway. The female standing in front of one throne seemed tired yet held such weakness at bay. She looked regal, proud, and dangerous. (Do not underestimate this one) slipped the silent words into Mall's thoughts.

She stayed just slightly behind and to one side of Mall as he spoke to
the woman. (Ah, your mother, of course.) She sent with some
amusement. Continuing to maintain the subtle spells and illusions
woven about the two, Vile listened and observed the exchange.
When Mallagent began to lay the syrup on too thick, Vile placed her
hand upon his shoulder and SQUEEZED. (Back off a bit) Nails dug in just
enough to remind him not to overdo it. Her look of concern and
comfort were totally sincere.

As he went on without a misstep in his prepared speech, Vile took in
the two men beside Felena Laorte. She made eye contact briefly
with both, allowing a bit of her innate power to seep through and
touch each in turn. Desire and passion, longing and need. Not all at
once, and not enough to alarm or startle. Just enough to draw
interest at first, to attract. These men were not like the rowdy and
vulgar thugs hired by Mall earlier. (No, definitely not). She hid her eyes,
concerned her excitement and glee would shine through inappropriately.

To any that watched, it seemed a simple case of shyness. Gaining
control of herself, she waited quietly beside Mallagent. Later would
be time to play.

Vilessa planned to enjoy every moment.

Erdrick was guarded at all the proceedings. He attempted to use his
gift of Scrying into the depths of a soul to determine if there be
any goodness within and any hopes to bring an evil into the light.

It was of little use. The spells of protection were strong of these
two. That alone proved warning enough. Why are they hiding there intents
this way? What are they hiding? were the thoughts playing in his mind. This
will be of interest to Fel when we are alone.

Standing between the thrones, next to Fel, Giantkiller tensed
slightly as Mallagant and his escort entered the room.  The hair on his arm
standing on end, Giantkiller could sense a great magic, but not being one to
practice or even play in the arts, he could not  determine from whom or even
where it came.  Inwardly cursing magic, Giantkiller stood unmoving.

Finally as Fel spoke, Giantkiller was able to relax a little.  Somehow, his
sister's voice calmed and reassured him.  When she was finished, and
Mallagant began to reply, Giantkiller was shocked at what he heard.
Questions ran through his mind.  Why has he come here.......has he actually
changed.......who is this with him......The answers he knew would come forth
soon enough, but what now..

For the first time since they arrived, Giantkiller allowed his eyes to leave
the two visitors and stole a quick glance at Fel.  Unable to read what she
was thinking by the expression she wore on her face, Giant once again turned
his attention to those before them and waited for his sister to
answer.......
